Map DVD Read Error on 2007 Avalanche

Hello ,

We keep getting a blue screen andthis error message on our navigation system "map dvd read error". It just comes on and off. Took the dvd out behind the screen and put it back in , didn`t help. Took the truck to the local Chevrolet place Friday afternoon andthey didn`t have a clue. Told us to bring it back Wednesday and they will see what they can do. Anybody else have this problem before ?

Remove the DVD, look for ANY smudges, scrapes, dirt, etc. if anything is present, run the disc under cold water, then wipe with a soft cloth, or kleenex moving from the center, outwards. Do Not rub around the disc. Make sure the disc is dry, and stick it back in for a test.
If it still gives you errors, the problem could be in the radio, or you could have a defective disc.
If you have never had the disc replaced, it is possible the disc is bad. There were a ton of bad discs from the factory last year
