Tire pressure question with the TPMS

I bought a 2007 Avalance last month. I noticed I have E rated tires on it and filled the tires up to 50 psi. When I turn it on the TPMS tells me to check my tire pressure for all four tires. When I scroll through and check the tire pressure all tires are right around 50 psi. I'm guessing the computer for the TPMS is set for somewhere around 35 psi.

My question is there any way to change the tire pressure system in the avalanche to 50 psi so I don't get the warning everytime I start the car? Is it the same as if I rotated the tires, or something else?

Not to sure why you need to have the tire pressure up to 50 PSI. I guess if you have a 3/4 ton avy and are hauling something heavy. I would think that 50 PSI is going to give you a rough choppy ride. Just because the tire says 50 PSI max on the side I dont think you need to run the tires with that much pressure in them.

I cant tell you for sure if the dealer will change that set point for you or not but I can tell you that I have a 2011 F-250 superduty work truck and the ford dealer was able to lower the setpoint from 80 PSI down to 55 PSI to try and give me some ride.

the dealer can, with the tech2 scan tool, change the tpm settings.

the setting should be for whatever the sticker in your door jamb says, I'm thinking you have another issue though I haven't seen the tire pressure light come on for being overinflated

either way a dealer or anyone with a tech2 scanner can change the setting or see if theres codes

Concur my dealer did it for me last month, I have BFG all-terrains that need to be run at 65psi the tire warnings were driving me nuts. They did it for free, took about 30min.

There is no such thing as a 2007 2500 avi. You should run the TP that is on the sticker. Otherwise you will center spot the tires and the ride will be worse.

TPMS Reset

The Sticker in the door jamb refers to the stock tires, so if you change the tires from the stock ones it is no longer relevant. I recently added a leveling kit to my 2007 Z71 Tahoe and put 285 Terra Grapplers on it and it was "splashy" on 35lbs. Put them at 48 and it rides perfect. Had the dealer reset the pressure points and all is well.
