Corsica starting problem

What's up guys, just bought a 1990 Corsica with the 3.1 v6. Has 235,xxx miles on it. It runs and drives great. But ever few times when starting you have to squirt starter fluid into the intake for it to fire. Any idea on what it could be? It has a new fuel pump in it so that shouldn't be it. Haven't done anything else to it yet, will be bringing it home tomorrow to work on it more. Any help is appreciated

Ok guys got the car home. Been doing a fee things to her to fix little quarks she has. One I havrnt addressed yet is the Speedo is all out of wack. At some speeds it reads double. But with the starting issue. We tried to get it to start and it just wouldn't. My buddy unscrewed the gas cap and a ton of air came rushing out. After that she fired right up. Maybe vapor lock or something. But I am now not having any problems getting her to start. So that is weird since the previous owner said it did it ever few starts.

might need to clean the throttle body and the ICA, then see if it still happens...

Maybe the fuel pump relay isn't working properly, if you put the key to run from off, but not start it, the fuel pump should run for about 3 seconds...
check that a few times, maybe the relay is old...
