RE: serpentine belt

there should be a belt tensioner
which u take a wrench and and put on the nut on the pulley and turn it to loosen the belt
you will have to hold it while u slip a part of the belt off
as for putting it back on the same way u took it off
if there isnt a diagram under the hood
draw one out for yourself
if u dont have a belt on and need to see how one goes
try gettting a haynes manual
or find another car like urs and look at it
or there might be something on line

good luck

mostly all tensioner pulleys have a 3/8 square hole for using a socket wrech to lift it. if you loosen the bolt on the pulley you risk popping the spring out of place. if you know cars you will never need a diagram. just always remember, start at the crankshaft pulley and work your way up. the smooth pulleys spin on the back of the belt and the pulleys with the grooves spin on the inside of the belt.

RE: serpentine belt

Basically, the tension pulley is the key to removing and installing the belt. It is located at the bottom of the engine and has a 9/16"(?) bolt on the front of it. Turn the bolt with a wrench (socket head won't fit) until the belt is loose. Honestly, it was hard to remove the belt. It is much easier with two people and having a diagram of the chevy beretta parts needed to remove and install belt will be very helpful... I would like to request the drawing to be attached in this thread so that any body who needs to change the serpentine belt on a 93 beretta will have the chance to get an information about it.. Thanks...
