96 ignition switch programming??

We just recently changed an ignition switch & cylinder on our 96 Z28. Alarm is still going off! The new ignition switch & cylinder is a AC Delco. It does not have the chip in the key like our old one did. Can someone pls helP??? Is there a way to manually program the new key??

Yours has the PASS-Key II a.k.a. VATS vehicle theft deterrent system. The lock cylinder has a two-wire electrical harness for the BCM to "read" the resistor pellet embedded in the key. I don't what you you mean by "does not have the chip in the key." Does the new key otherwise look like a genuine GM key or what?
