Engine just shuts down intermitent LT1

Hey guys looking for a little help here. I have a 1996 SS Camaro and I have been having an issue with it lately. I will be driving and the engine will lose all power and shut donw. Everything else works (lights, radio, turn signals, etc) but the motor just shuts down. It does not sputter or make a noise just dead. Then you let it sit for a few minutes and it will fire back up. Has anyone had this issue with there car before and could help me think of a good place to start troubleshooting this?

Thanks,

Justin

sounds like anti theft issue.

yes i would bypass the VATS system. its a fairly simple procedure, you really only need to find out the keys resistance and wire a resistor in place. theres alot of threads pertaining to the whole process here if you search

There is a thin guage two white wire connector at the base of the steering column. The key should have a chip in it, that chip is a resistor that matches the ignition switch. I think there are 15 different ones, either with an ohmeter check the chip in the key, or some hardware stores can test it for you, and give you a number. That number corresponds to a resistor value. Get a precision resistor 1/4 watt, and unplug the connector, insert resistor.
