What year ?
The module for the air bag could be bad or the air bag is not present...knowing what year model will help....

oh its a 1999. if i were going to fix the problem instead of just removing the bulb, where would be the best place to start? i tested the fuses under the dash and the only one that was bad was the horn.

have the restraint codes read with full function scan tool and post the codes here.

did the horn work after fuse replacement? The horn control circuit must pass throught the clockspring as does the driver airbag....related???

i dont have access to a full function scan tool. if i did take it to the dealer to get the codes read, would fixing the problem turn out the light or does it need to go back to the dealer after being fixed for them to turn out the light?

you were talking about the scan tool they use at the dealership right?

tech2 December 22nd, 2012 6:53 AM

there are generic scan tools that can read airbag codes.

As long as the sensing and diagnostic module is ok; no programming at the dealer is required. Any shop could do the repair in that circumstance.

Few people will give advice on a forum for airbag work due to the possibility of a deployment. If your not trained in airbag systems, have a professional do the work.
