Default How to solve your A/C nightmares on 3rd Gen

I nor this site take any responsibility for any injuries that you inflict on yourself while following this tutorial. be smart and use common since while working on high pressure lines.
Note: if adding new components always replace the orifice tube and flush the system if you suspect that you had bad compressor bearings.

step 1: Ensure all your components are all tightly fastens and hooked together

Step 2: Hook your "manifold Gauges" (which can be bought at harbour freight for less than 60 bucks) up too there corresponding service valves

(only if you installed a new Item or are looking for leaks)Step 3:hook your vacuum pump up to the gauge set (either electric or air driven) and begin vacuum your system down. to 30inches of vacuum. it usually takes like 30 mins or so.

step 3.5: turn the vacuum source off and let it sit for about an hr. watch you gauge for any drop in vacuum if there is a drop then you have a leak. and it must be fixed prior to charging the system.

step 4: Start your car and turn the A/C to max begin to add freon as needed. (with a fully evacuated system it takes about 1.5lbs or two 12oz size cans)

step 5: watch for your compressor to engage the clutch if you see it engage continue to add freon until charged to the recommended pressure ( about 40 psi) if you dont see it engage go to step 6

step 6: so your compressor wont kick on eh? dont fret we can fix that. 1st we are gonna check the fuses. go and get your test light and check the following fuses: (in the box in the engine bay)
check the a/c fuse and the BLO fuse and replace as needed.
(in the fuse panel in the driver side door)
check the fuses HVAC and ERLS and replace as needed
if it still doesn't kick on step 7

step 7: now to check the relay go ahead and feel it does it feel hottttt? if so its prob bad but we can test to make sure. just swap the relay with the Fuel Pump relay right next to it and see if the car starts if it does then the relay is fine. if still no go step 8

step 8: time to test our ever so special a/c pressure transducer. its located on the high side right next too the high side service port. go ahead and un-plug it. put a length of wire in the hole that connects too the black wire and a length of wire into the hole with the red wire. grab a AA battery and connect the - side to the wire connecting to the black wire and the + side to the wire connecting to the red wire. have a friend start the car and turn the A/C to max. now take the wire off and then put it back on did your compressor engage? if so replace the transducer and whahoo you have A/C now!
