Welcome Bill! I have a '68; please refresh me as to your car's set up - ie what kind of light switch - in the dash, on the steering column? How are brights turned on?
Thanks!

Don't know if this helps - my 68 hi beams worked on the floor switch. It broke and shorted so the car would die if the brights were turned off - only ran with brights on. You said you changed the switch, maybe check out the brights switch too?

yeah thanks, bright switch works fine. my latest discovery is when every thing is off and the key is out if i pull the headlight switch on the car reacts and buzzes and brake and dash lights come on as if i turned the key to the on position before starting. freaking me out!

1. Are you sure this is wrong? Maybe this model has daytime running lights.

2. Get a wiring diagram, remove access panels and start tracing wires. Start at low beam headlights and work backwards looking at every possibility which might power up the headlights.

Doing this you will learn much about your elky.
