Throttle Body error code P1101
Recently had car battery replaced. Within a few days engine light came on. Scheduled appointment with Pep Boys to see what was up. Of course light was off by the time of the appt. Was told stored code indicated problem with the throttle body. Was not charged for the visit, told to bring it back if it came on again. Long story short, took it back again. Kept it all day. Throttle body looked ok. Again no charge
Fast forward to yesterday. State inspection at Chevy dealership .Engine lite still on. Told I need a NEW throttle body. Cost around $400. The kicker is , this same dealership installed a throttle body in August of 2025. I have the following questions... Can a throttle body really go bad in 6 months? Does the brand of gas cause this? I use Sam's. Can it be cleaned, instead of replaced? And after digging thru the internet, I find that this is a common problem with the Cruze model when the battery is replaced. The car "forgets" it's normal throttle settings and needs to be "reset" or perhaps "relearned ". Thru a few steps involved, which I have done. To no avail. So.... is this a problem from just replacing the battery or just a un lucky coincidence?? I will scrape the $400 together somehow one way or the other. TY |
