396 decode
Wassup Forum,
I have a 396 that I'm trying to find out info on. The block number is
3935572, the date code is E 28 8, the numbers on the front are T0606JQ. It also says HI PERF PASS. The heads numbers are 3933148 and they say Truck on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the date code-- the first letter is for may. the code starts at (A)=january and ends at (L)= december.The second and third digits are the day of the month the component was cast. the therd number is for the year, the year numbers go from 0 to 9. (T0606JQ)- the first letter is the assembly plant 06 is the month of assembly and the other 06 is the day of assembly.the last to letters are the engine identification suffix.
