85 305 rebuild info
 

so my car bit the dust and i picked up a 1985 c20 in decent condition for 500 it has a le9 code 305 and a st-10 4 speed with 3.43 rears. what are the best upgrades i can do for this engine for mpg and power using heads i can get from a pick yard. i know small block la dodges like the back of my hand but when it comes to chevy im clueless. right now its getting a complete tune up new clutch carb rebuild and steering parts/ shocks. also are there any good easy to find five or six speeds outh there that are a easy swap in? as far as ive been able to find out is stock 305 heads are restrictive mostly on the exhaust side and it sounds like mild cam better heads and full exhaust should help considerably. im also thinking of finding out how to take the electric fans from my car and use them in place of the pump driven one to pull drag off the motor i have no a/c no a.i.r. and its bone stock never touched at 104,000 burns alittle at start up but goes away at warm up so figure a honeing and ring job in the future
