Default Tbi 305 v8 89 camaro

I have a 89 Rs camaro I just purchased it has 53000 original miles. I was wondering what can I do to it to reach 350-375 hp. Budget I was thinking $3500-4000 and I don’t really care about emissions seeing that it is already registered as a classic vehicle

Best gain for the money is going to be displacement. replace the 305 with a 350. I don’t know if you can still find 350 TBI truck motors in the junkyard or not. If yes - that would be the most cost effective option. Even better yet- try to find a Vortec CPFI motor. They have MUCH BETTER heads. If. It’s a TBI motor, note that somewhere around 1989 they went to roller cams. Try to find one with that and put a slightly bigger cam. If you don’t go too crazy, you can probably get the stock fuel injection to run well. Headers and a good exhaust will help too.

Good luck. My wife had an 89 RS with the 305 TBI and we put 130,000 trouble free miles on it. It was one of the best cars we’ve owned in terms of cost and reliability.

budget that much you could stroke a 350. but you could get a gm crate 350, swap cams run headers and put on a dual-plane manifold and be pushing 290hp and 420tq that might just be over 2k
