So I bought a 1984 k10 with a sb 305 4 bolt that needs some work. The engine needs new seals and gaskets. I just decided to switch it with another 305 and get the truck on the road before winter. I noticed the back of the block was blue? Decided I should do a research on the engine and figure out exactly what I have on my hands.
Block code "3970010"
Suffix code "k03091DR" (the 1 may be a T)
Vin# "C81155096". [/B][/B]
I've gotten several different ideas on what the engine may be. Block code comes up as a Small Block V8 1969 302, 4 bolt, Camaro Z28. The vin I cant figure out because the code is out of order from decifering instructions. Best I can tell from the suffix it's from "st. Catherines, Ontario" made march, 9th. I believe the "C" in the vin stands for chevy truck. The suffix and vin are perfectly line up (suffix over the vin) and I read the only did that from 67-69 I believe. Can anyone help me decode this block?

I have same issue nothing really adds up mine also has castin of 3970010 stamp # V070HV and a vin# 19J298780 have it down to 3 motors 302 327 and 350 no clue what it really is and how to tell its in running condition in a vehicle now

Mine needs rebuilt, so I need to figure it out. I'm gonna have to measure the size of the cylinder. See how much it holds.
