Hello.
I broke a u-joint on my 2007 Equinox drive shaft and damaged it. I purchased a new after market one but I cannot, for the life of me get the front of the front drive shaft out of the transfer case or ptu or what ever it is called. I pulled the universal apart trying to get it out but the front part of the universal housing is stuck there.
I tried hammers, pry bars, and an air chisel. Is there a special tool or way of doing it? I need help.

I have read those links but at step 7 I removed the mounting bolts for the propeller shaft at the transfer case but I can't get the propeller shaft out of the transfer case. I ended up pulling that cv joint apart and I can't get the front half of the cv joint housing out of the ptu shaft of the transfer case. It seems to be really stuck bad. I have hit it with a hammer enough to deform the front half of the cv joint housing and still not budge it. Also used an air chisel with no effect. Not sure if this is a common problem.
I see that on a lot of the forums people are just taking the prop shaft off and not replacing it. I am guessing they are having trouble too. I bought an all wheel drive vehicle and I would like to keep it that way if I can.

cannot, for the life of me get the front of the front drive shaft out of the transfer case either.... I read the pdf someone suggested and did that but it will not release... crowbar/pry bar hammer chisel

best method is with a hammer and chisel. i use an air hammer with a chisel bit but you better have a quality air hammer...if not use a regular hammer and big sharp chisel. remove the center support bearing so the shaft has room to move.

I am having the same issue. Was wondering if I cut my drive shaft off just before the bolts at the yoke will that cause any damage from vibration till i figure it out?

how did you get in there? My sub frame is in my way
