P0411

I have a p0411 code and it comes up as secondary air injection. I pulled the air pump and hooked it to 12 volts and it runs and no water came out either. I pulled the a hose off from the air cleaner box and it had suction from the pump. It wouldn't bother me except the check engine light prevents the remote start to work. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

Man, I really hate the air injection systems. They are prone to trouble like this.

That said here is what comes up as the possible problems:
  • Air injection pump has failed
  • Air control solenoids or air lines are faulty
  • Open or short in wiring harness for air injection system
  • Air injection system has excessive carbon buildup

Me, I'd sell the vehicle rather then put up with a smog pump, but that's just me.

Unfortunately selling it isn't an option right now I wish it was.
Dealer wants $130 to diagnose it, just trying to try some things before I go that route.

Check any vacuum hoses for leaks, same with wires for frays, and continuity, or any corrosion. Check them out real good. Glad to hear the pump is OK. Back in the day, they used to run the A.I.R. pump it off the Vee-belt. Had nothing but trouble from that system. Some states in the US, you can legally remove them, most not however.
