19.7L/100KM Good / Fair ?

I'm on my 5th tank of gas I think? The DIC states I am averaging 19.7L/100km (12 mpg?). This is confirmed with manual calculations. 12mpg? I was kind of hoping for a lot better. I am pretty easy on the foot, it's all city driving.

I've had a 2.8L Colorado for years so I am still adjusting to the fuel bill.

I get 13 with my 2002 3/4 ton vortec 350 with 3.73 gears, so i would not be happy with that. The newer engines are supposed to be better on fuel, and you have better gears than me.
The dealer told my dad that there is a break in on trucks for the fuel economy to get better, but his was a diesel.....

I've actually been tracking my fuel and mileage with an Andriod App. It works well, and I wish I had this ability years ago. I don't think my calculations are fair and I need to revisit this thread sometime down the road and update it. I know it's "bad" to do environmentally and financially, but with it being cold here and having to wait around quite often, I've sat in the van idling for extended periods. I was thinking about this, and I remembered it's been every tank. I know the first tank I sat there and watched the Fuel Consumption meter climb as the motor just ran for no reason other than to keep me warm and happy.

In a few month I'll come back with a better account of actual mpg.
