1988 Rear end swap options

Hey all, gonna make this post before an introduction post because I lack pictures. My Grandfather bought a G20 in 1988 and when he died my father sold it. I went on a goose chase for a year to find it and was able to bring it home.

It's a 350 with a 700r4 and a 10-bolt with 5-lugs and it's got 30 years of Wisconsin wear all over. Underside is pretty rusted out and messed up to the point where the rear drums are no longer brakes by any means.

I wanna know what rear end I can swap into it that is stronger than a 10-bolt and has disc brakes.

Anyone ever done that? My searches don't show up with anything, and I feel with some slight modification to an Express 3500 rear end, I could mount something up.

Dont bother with disc brakes. They are no better, and disc brake parking brake is a joke.
You will have lots more axles to choose from is you stay with original.

Whether or not they're better is up for debate, but I probably would have more choices if I just stick to drums.
In that case, then what? Don't bother with swapping in anything stronger/newer and just find a junkyard axle from another 88-on G20?

OK, you have a 350 motor, trans, and body with 30 years of Wisconsin wear, why would you swap out another axle, instead of just replacing all the brake parts, is there something wrong with the existing axle except for the brakes?

Yeah. Whole thing's made of rust now. Body's repairable and the interior is great, so it's worth restoring or restomodding.
