2002 Savana 1500 - Air conditioner stuck on..

Seems that it doesn't recognize the right hand switch... I can redirect the air
- dash, def, floor, etc, and get heat when I dial to Red, but the air when I
dial in Blue is always cold - not outside air temp....

I had been noticing a lot of condensate dripping - apparently it's been doing it
for a while, and I thought I was just overworking the A/C system. Not frozen up - been going on for days - perhaps many days......

Ideas? Blend door stuck? How do I get to it?

Thanks for help.

I'm smarter than I was..... Talked with an a/c guy..

When the right hand knob is in the floor or dash position, the a/c clutch is not
engaged, and you bring in outside air - the a/c clutch is disengaged. When the
a/c knob is in the Def+floor position, the a/c clutch is engaged and the air is
in recirculate mode. Haven't checked the clutch with it only in the Def
position.

So, I've been running in recirculate mode with the a/c on - hence the cold air
and the condensate drip - still may have a plugged or restricted condensate
drain tube.

Remember when we used to have a choice between recirculate or outside air? Now
the system "thinks" for us..... Oh for simpler times...

dripping AC condensate

Thanks Bob,

You are right on what I was looking for.

I'm anxious to check out the setting to see what keeps the AC off.

Now that they have the car thinking for me why can't they have it make a living for me too? So now I have to be smarter than the car and the guys that wrote the owners manual to use the cooling system the way I want to. I really do feel perfectly capable of deciding if I want to the air cooled ... and it is a lot easier than experimentation.
