Default 2009 chevy express 3500 V8-6.0 transmission

My 2009 Chevy express has 101000 miles and the transmission just started acting up. Jumping from 1st to 2nd gear. Then a warning light came on telling
me transmission is hot needs to idle. So i took it in to a transmission specialist and he told me it was shot. He recommended a new transmission. Estimate came to 4100.00 . 800 labor and the rest for a re-manufactured transmission. Does this seem reasonable? I'm in a tough spot cause its my work van and i need it done asap. Not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated

Always get a second opinion.....they should road test it, check the fluid, and check for codes.....
How does it "jump" Does first gear work at all? Or is it a rough or sudden shift to second?

I had the codes checked and road tested by 2 places. Stated that there was slippage which causes the transmission to heat up. Im just not sure about the 2800 for cost of the new transmission and 4100 overall price.

What about rebuild cost? Also, could you snag a used tranny from a salvage yard?

I was told it would cost almost as much to rebuild so I figure I'd rather have a new or remanufactored.

Well, that sucks. I guess you could try new fluid and filter, and see if that helps.....It might get you by for a while....

I already ordered the transmission gotta get it back and running need it to work. Check pricing at several places 2750 is the cheapest. At least I get a 3 year 100000 mile warranty.
