700r4 swap to th400 in 1992 G20 questions?
700r4 is toast swapping to a th 400. Info 92 G20 350tbi, Dana 70 rear 4.10 gears, used to tow with. Question 1. Crossmember mounting...how. # 2 trans dipstick tube...where to get one. # 3 speedo hook up ...how and parts needed. Driveshaft and kickdown covered . Please no "you can build a 700r 4 to tow with" NO you can't but you can spend $2000 on a boat anchor . Thank fo the help.

Do you have a vacuum source for the turbo 400 to shift?
Do you have a tranny cooler?
I ask, because the 700r4 is basically an old version of the 4l60e, which my last 2 vans have had and they were bulletproof for towing. Thing is you need a tranny cooler to keep it cool. My 3/4 ton express had one.
The lower 1st gear and overdrive is a couple of advantages the 4 spd has over the th400, but yes the 400 is a tougher trans overall......
