Yes. A proper glass shop to do it for you. A bad windshield install is dangerous. By all means take it out yourself and fix the rust, but take the glass and the van to a shop to have it reinstalled. Well worth the money.

Oh not tackling it myself. As im not in the STATES, im in Scotland and glass shops over hear wont have much experience with these windscreens and def wont stock parts for them, so im trying to gather as much knowledge and parts i may need before the job starts.

dont want the van sitting in a garage for months waiting on the right weather stripping being shipped over hear.

Id guess that, perhaps your windscreen (or windshield as we call it) was replaced once before and they used a different molding. You might be at the mercy of the window installer to make it work.

I would call a glass shop over here. Ask them what's involved and what parts are needed. They can tell you if its common to re use the old seal and caulk it or if a new one must be ordered. Then at least you know whether you need the part. Then check with a Glass shop in Glasgow. Is Vauxhaul not GM? Might as well try. Good luck.

I removed the wind shield from my '95 G30 a few years back to clean up some rust. I dug out all the old caulk right down to the metal frame sanded it down primed it painted it, and applied the urethane prep solvent stuff. Apparently that was not the best idea, the windshield don't fit very tight in there and needs a lot of caulk to fill the void. The glass installer I hired had to come back days later with more, much more urethane. The guy told me it will usually take a tube and a half to r&r a windshield on one of those vans. He used 10 tubes.... big tubes that bill was $950.00. FYI.
