Chevy Express Transmission Fluid Temperature

Hi, does anyone know the recommended maximum fluid temperature?

There's no hard limit. Wear is a function of temperature and time. It also depends on where you measure it. If it's aroynd 110C or 230F and up for extended periods of time then you can worry.

Twscarp
how you doing..... dont you have a P.I.D for the trans temp ?
I have towed a Side by Side from a buddies house to the Springfield Air Port... and that was
up and down hills... here in KY....hour away drive my fluid never went over 185 degrees of course mine is NOT STOCK...
but if you have that P.I.D at least you can keep an eye on the temps....

Hi, I'm doing OK. Mine is all stock with just the standard radiator cooler (2008 1500 4.3, 224k). I have the PID, and can monitor the temperature. About a week ago it was in the low 90's outside, and my transmission temps were in the low 190º range, the van was empty and not towing. I thought it was a little high.

160 - 195F is normal

OK, thanks.

Heat and age are mainly what causes transmission fluid to degrade, and this only leads to more overheating. The ideal range for fluid temperature is between 175 and 225 degrees, and every 20 degree drop in fluid temperature can help to double the life of your transmission.

This is why I added a deep trans pan and a corvette servo for first gear....
along with a bigger cooler out front...
