Express 3500 Passenger Van General Question and Advice

Hello and good day all;
I currently drive an Astro and I need something larger and I have come across a descent looking 2002 Express 3500 passenger van. Beyond some of the odd issues that most vehicles have, Is there anything specific to this series of Van I should look out for. I know on the 1 ton vans the front end is very different than the 1/4 tons.

Also....Whats a realistic MPG for a van of this size. This series of van is "exempt" from the epa stuff but I still have to drive this thing.

Thanks for your input!
