How do I access the door jamb switch on 2009 Express 2500?
 

I understand it may be built into the latch assembly on the 2009. Can someone tell me the best way to access it? It's malfunctioning and telling me the "driver door is open" when it's not open and also chimes. Thanks! Not sure if relevant but van does NOT have power locks or power windows.

Hi, this video is not for a 2009 but I think they are the same. Driver door probably most often used, hopefully, you will see something amiss on that lock.

This is great thanks. Because the van does not have power locks or windows I may be able to just unplug the wire that goes into the latch assembly. I don't need the warning message to tell me my door is open.

That will work only if the switch "closes" when the door is loose. There's a 50/50 chance of that being the case. If you unplug the switch, and it doesn't fix it, then try shorting the wires (should only be two). And if that doesn't work, your problem is most likely elsewhere.

I think unplugging it will not help because that is what is causing the problem -- circuit is open.

Before you tear things apart, you could try pulling back the rubber accordion looking thing and checking for broken wires there.

Except that his 2009 doesn't have a door jam switch. It has a micro switch in the latch assembly.

My bad. That was for the rear door.

If it's part of an assembly then it's more likely the problem is a loose or broken wire somewhere.

i saw a video that showed that when the door is open it completes a ground. that would make it easy to defeat. however i'd check a wiring diagram first.

Have a look at page D55

On the right side there is the ground layout for that switch. (closure status driver door miniwedege/ door lock switch)

Also D 132 to D 137. diagrams.....

The diagram shows the switch as normally open. I still can't tell if that's with the door open or closed.
Also, the OP has a 2009, not a 2008.

Either way, if this is how his van is wired, then it looks like he can just find the the Gray+Black wire (circuit #745) and either ground it or leave it open, depending on what makes it chime.

What is a mini wedge??
