Specially if you are going into an under ground parking lot.

I solve that issue by not having a rack. It is good when it snows. The lack of a rack makes it easier to clear the roof.

But that looks painful. Make sure you seal it well when you put it back.

No snow over here, and need the roof as family uses all available space.

Anyway, I didnt like the fact they are fixed, cant move them so I think its a good chance to buy adjustable bars.

Or get those stackable totes that have tie-down slots. I have put six of those on my carrier before.

I should also note that I have not used this with the van yet, but I can't see why that would be a problem.

Also, I mounted a trailer light kit and lighted license plate holder to my carrier. I did not want people hitting into the rack, so I figured the lights would help with that. Then I put the license plate back there to keep the police happy.

The 750lb load limit is plenty for me. I also like that it can fold up when not in use, but that can also be a pain with the way I mounted the license plate because when folded up the plate is not visible. I think I might mount the plate on a hinge so that it can swing

I also thought about them, but my VAN doesnt have the hitch. Weird, but I dont have anything to tow. So I thought using what I have would be smarter... and look at me!
