Rear sliding outside handle issue 2012 express 3500

First time poster. The outside handle not working, but interior door will still open. Any ideas on where to start or am I looking at replacing the whole thing? TIA

The rod connecting the handle to the latch got disconnected. Take the trim off the inside of the door to access it. Just pull to release the clips.
