steering box 53 chevy 2-door 6-cyl.
Does anybody know if the steering box can be reworked i..e, install a bearing kit as shown in National Chevy ***'n catalogue without taking out the whole steering column?

I don't want to sound like a jack@$$, but there has to be a better forum for your question. I'm guessing you have a panel truck, and if so, I'd love to see pictures.

Sorry i wasn't more specific. I'm new at this. My car is actually '53 Pontiac Chieftain which is the Canadian-built version. it is exactly like a Chevy of the same year in terms of parts, Only the grille, trim etc. is different. So the steering box I'm inquiring about is same as 53 Chevy. Thing is, taking the whole steering column out looks very onerous. If the box can be worked on without doing that, it would not be so formidable. ?????
