Tranny Question

I have a 98 van with a 5.7 engine and it's an automatic. In the morning i back it out of the driveway and when i go forward it kinda hesitates like maybe slipping then takes off and everything is find after that. I can drive it all day with no problems, it's just when it's cold. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced. Tim

I was having a similar problem with my van, I kept driving it against a mechanics advice. I figured it still moved, fluid full, good to go. I should have listened, it finally let go completely one day on the way home from work. Could have been repaired, so my advice is have a transmission shop look at it. I now will be replacing my trans.

Thanks for the reply Pete. I kinda figured it wasn't good, i'm going to have it checked out after the holidays, luckly it's not my daily driver just a few miles a week. Better fix now than latter$$$$!

Cold transmissions don't work well. I would be more concerned it it did it while warm...
However, having it looked at by a pro couldn't hurt.......let us know what you found out.
