Add locking rear axle to express van
 

I am purchasing a 2020 2500 passenger that did not come with a locking axle. How much of a big deal is this to add and can dealer do this?

I’m. Just getting the runaround from all these AO dealers. My question is what has to be done to change the open axle to the locked type. If you have PNs that’s a big help thanks

The differential has to be replaced. If you want a step-by-step then purchase a service manual. It's not really territory for a forum.

I'd be interested as well. My van looks to have a 9.5" 14-bolt semi-floater which is likely what you have. That is really more of a three-quarter ton axle even though I have a 3500. It's a bummer because the 10.5" 14-bolt was much easier to work on. Also most of the aftermarket books seem to be geared toward pickup trucks and say that the 14-bolt semi floater wasn't made after 2013. I think I would like to get a TruTrack (because it is an all gear limited slip) but our application isn't listed. The Gov-Lock (G80) could likely be found at a dealership online. You don't need to do a full setup of the gears as the pinion isn't getting messed with. You just need to set the backlash and carrier bearing preload.
