Ok you hit the nail on the head... Volt meter was needed and used....so first off. I had company drop by..( brother and his wife ) I welded up a steering shaft for him used on his riding lawn mower... lol SO.....I want to be clear .... there is NO ACC wire... lol The ignition will not go to acc... believe that.... This is a commercial vehicle. And i think that in its self has something to do with it... I believe the orange is illumination. Low voltage 3.6 volts that fluxuates to 6 volts Yellow wire consistant 12 volts NO acc wire. PROMISE... lol My color wires do not match the plug adapter I bought that says its for my van. Hell there is an empty din were my Acc wire should be according to the adapter harness. I figured out the 8 wires and match the wire adapter. Grey green white purple. Let me tell you those colors are NOT what i have in my van.. lol Never the less i have all speakers working well i didnt plug in the ceiling pod speakers.... based on what you told me. I will take more pics tomorrow evening I fly Rc airplanes.... I soldier alot.. and I plan on doing that to all my wire connections.... |
That doesn't make sense. I believe you, but it doesn't fit. And while there are differences between cargo and passenger vehicles, in this case it should be no different. The radio needs to know when to shut itself off. It should even have the delay power(the one that keeps the radio on on after the key is turned off, but only for - minutes, or when any door opens). My '00 Astro Cargo had this. Are you sure that the old radio didn't pop the fuse?

Ok looking at the picture with the wires... opposite from the black wire which was tested for a known good ground .. and it is... is an Orange wire. that has no power you might be correct about a fuse... only way of knowing that would be to test all fuses.. funny thing about the express and savana the fuse box I think is out under the hood. So like I mentioned I did not have time last night company came over... so I will have a list of things to think about while I am at work.. lol and then if possibly when I get home tonight I will empliment my plan and try to find out what that lonely 1 orange wire goes to ... that still does not solve my issue I need 2 wires... and by me testing the one and it having low voltage I can only assume its the illumination wire... It would be nice to find out the other wire was ACC but I have NEVER been in a vehicle were you couldnt move the keys to ACC.... this ignition Will not go in that direction.. ( got me scratchin my head ) OH... the radio worked before me pulling it out. and how easy it is to plug back in I am thinking about doing that and turning on my head lights and testing to see if the illumination brightens and or dimmes .... see like you said if the radio stays on for a small periode of time like my GMC Sierra Truck does. this vehicle is new to me so I dont know all the things that it does.. or should do .. ( little Kentucky talking there )... lol |
I don't know how similar the '06 and '16 are, but mine has another fuse box under the drivers seat. And as far as the acc position goes, my key doesn't turn back either. The acc position is the first click forward, ign is the second click. My '00 Astro was this way as well.

The key going forward.... is technically not acc.
If it were the ignition lights on the dash would not be on If your light on the dash comes on then your ignition is hott and you can potensionaly burn up your coils ACC Does not allow the ignition to the motor to be hott. My GMC. Ignition is different i can turn my ignition backwards and my ignition to the motor is Not Hott. Which i can leave that way all day long and not risk any harm to my motors ignition system... ( coils ) |
That wont work for me ... when I go and fly my Planes
I spend alot a time with my stereo playing in the back ground i sure dont want my ignition Hott ( turned on ) For any length of time other than starting the van.. NOW.. unless you know something that I dont ... But as long as that light is on your dash your ignition coils are energyzed... |
I better not post any more on this ignition issue... i need to be in frt of it.... i shoudnt say till i know for sure... but i dont recall it clicking 1 time forward and no lights on the dash coming on... So i apologize.... i better not post until i am in frt of it and trying again... lol. We tend to do things in a hurry and not think... lol

Ok.. so I called the wife... asked her to jump in the van... asked her put the keys in the ignition... and turn it only 1 time... her responce. It wont turn 1 click it wants to go over to were the lights come on.... then she says wait i can pull it backwards 1 click and all lights go off except the battery red battery light... I thought Bingo... there is the Acc... lol. So while she is still in the van and now just in acc mode..
I asked her to take the test light sitting there and go to the orange wire. Seei f the test lights up. It didnt... had her to back probe the red wire to make sure the test light wa s connected. It was... lol. So still NO acc wire.. lol. |
