1994 Chevy Blazer K

I have two chronic problems with my Blazer.

1. When I press on the accelerator, i get an initial jump, but the engined then boggs for a second before resumingnormalacceleration.

2. I have plugs that fowl about every 6 months.

I would love your input as I am no mechanic. Thanks.

Sounds like its running rich. You could possibly have a clogged cat converter.

How do I fix it?

We are talking K5 blazer arent we?

You can replace the catalytic converter to fix a problem with that.

Flooding problems will correct themselves most of the time, but if it doesn't you can adjust the choke.

Indeed it is a K5. Is there any way to clean out the existing one? I don't have much money to play with.

Never had to do it man. It may not be the cat at all. It may be something as simple astiming. Its hard to tele-diagnose that problem.
Next time you take a fouled plug out, take a close-up picture of the end of it before you clean it. It can be really helpful in finding out what the problem is.

doesnt sound like the cat but if u do have problems with it take it off and punch a hole through it from one end to the other. it sounds like a fuel problem to me but that shouldn't foul the plugs try using a hotter plug and see what it dose

what plugs do you use? If they are Champion or NGKplugs, throw them in the garbage and get some ACDelco or Bosch plugs

I assume it has TBI
Sounds to me like you should check the timing, may be retarded slightly and also if you know someone with a scanner see if the tps is working ok
