1998 Chevy Silverado 1500 noise
 

I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado 5.7 Vortec 1500 2wd pickup. This truck started making a noise that sounds like tapping or compression that is coming from the from side of the motor towards the bottom. I've changed the water pump thinking it was that and it's not. I took off the belt and started the engine and it still makes the same noise. The noise happens at idle and through acceleration it gets faster. This is my daily driver. Any help would be appreciated.
