2000 Chevy Prizm with Oil Caked on Spark Plug
1 Attachment(s)
I have white/gray smoke coming from my exhaust when i start driving and it disappears after driving awhile. The smoke does come back if I idle too long.
Below is an image of my spark plug https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...12598920_n.jpg https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...12598920_n.jpg I am putting about 2 quarts of oil in my car every 2-3 weeks. I drive about 50 miles through city/highway streets each day. I have about 160,000 miles on the car. I don't remember seeing a pool of oil in the cylinder. That doesn't mean it wasn't there though. I took it to a mechanic they charged me $700 to fix the gasket, it worked well enough for about a month, but i still have the same problem. Is this a gasket issue; pcv valve; cylinder; I am not a mechanic...can anyone help me?! |
The problem is most likely valve seals however with that high mileage you likely heed to replace the engine.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I can replace the spark plug which helps for a short time but, is there any time of engine sealant I could use to tie me over until I could afford a new car?

There is no miracle in a can. You could spend/waste a few dollars here and there but the likely hood of any of the helping much or for very long is slim. |
