2006 malibu ls airbag system

I have a malibu 2006. It was in a minor crash but airbags deployed. And i know how to fix it but. I was wondering do the impact sensors. Need to be replaced. They are not damaged. And if so. How do i remove them. It seems they are not removable.

Accident With Frontal Air Bag Deployment — Component Replacement and Inspections

After a collision involving air bag deployment, replace the following components:
 • The inflatable restraint I/P module
 • The inflatable restraint steering wheel module
 • The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM)
 • The inflatable restraint front end sensors
 • The inflatable restraint side impact modules, front seat air bags, if equipped
 • The inflatable restraint seat belt pretensioners
Perform additional inspections on the following components:
 • Steering wheel module coil and the coil wiring pigtail—Inspect for melting, scorching, or other damage due to excessive heat.
 • Mounting points or mounting hardware for the I/P module, steering wheel module, SDM, and pretensioners—Inspect for any damage and repair or replace each component as needed.

crash sensor replacement

I believe they have a internal torx head on the end of the cap screw. the head the cap screw clamps the sensor to the crossmember. loosen the capscrew and slide it off. the trick is know if its left or right hand thread....because your working from the foot of the screw not the head. I have seen some right hand and some left hand thread.

Ok. Im not sure how to get the screws out on the front restraint sensors i dont want to strip them. There is no way to acces the head of the screw is there a special kind of tool?

um, maybe re-read my last post.
Do a google search for images of external torx sockets. Next look at the exposed end of the screw that holds the sensor. I'm betting it will all come together.

I figured it out. Pretty simple. I didnt know those sensors slid over after they are loosened.
