454 Mark IV camshaft alignment
 

Hello All,

I'm rebuilding a 454, installed the camshaft and it doesn't align with the lifters, it's too deep into the block when the timing kit is installed: I tried the old kit and a new one (Edelbrock 7810)
How can I push it forward? Shims behind the crankshaft sprocket? I was also thinking to grind on a lathe the head of the camshaft in order to push it forward.
