700r4 shift linkage adjustment(not tv cable)

Is there an (internal)adjustment to the manual shift linkage on a 700r4. Mine is so tight to shift, it keeps binding the control cables that attach to the shifter . I'm using a B&M heavy duty cable (already bound up a Dorman cable). Its hard enough to pull it out of park, but really hard to shift from 1st back up to park. The lever coming out of the trans itself is very hard to move(feels bound up).
Car is a street rod. There are no severe bends in ths cable (cable travels fine unhooked). It would probably work ok for a while, but is very hard to determine if you are actually engaging a particular gear, and will probably break either the cable or the shifter itself (97 Cadillac STS). Car is still apart, so I don't know if temperature would make any difference.
Anybody got any ideas???

Trans cable

The key to making those cables work is a nice open loop, look it up on b&m web sit under routing
