Can Brake Pads actually be put on backwards??
 

Are pads made for a specific side of the vehicle?
The only thing I noticed that may be different is the "worn brake sensor". It would either be rubbing "against the rotor" or "with the rotor" depending on what side the pad is installed. But what about performance. Are pads designed to perform properly for only one side of the vehicle? Or it doesn't matter?

No. It really doesn't matter. Generally you want to get the pad so the wear indicator will make contact WITH the turn of the rotor instead of against it, but if you don't its not a big deal.

It does matter on malibus the n body's the pads are different but you could install them wrong still. If that is done it will cause the caliper to be at a bind causing uneven wear.

it does not matter what side (left or right wheel)the the pads go on but they are usually pair together but the pads usally have a specific side of the rotor they go on (usaully they will only go into thecaliper one way)

Most defnately yes, Some cars rear brakes, some designs use the same pads, When I do a brake job I always look for the squeal clip which pad its on and inboard or outboard, If both the pads are identical, no clips no backing clip for the piston or hold downs for the caliper side, either way will work dont forget clc disc brake quiet goo for the pads put it on 10 mins before assembly, that is the difference between seeing a customer back for a squealing in there new brakes in three weeks, USE the goo, it saves tme in the long run...I have put pads on the wrong side before, Take steps, get good tech info, If u are at all puzzled, I doubt it tho Peace Happy HUnting

Does the squeaker go on the outside of the caliper? ? On a 2000 eclipse?

i just got front pads for my 03 yukon and 2 pads have 2 squealer and the other 2 pads have 1 squealer, does it matter where they go ?
im thinking the 2 squealer pad goes on the outside and the single squealer on the inside with the squealer up

thoughts ?
