Detent Cable?

My 2006 Impala has 50,000 on the clock. It is equipped with the 3.5 Flexfuel engine and automatic transmission. I understand that this car comes equipped with a computer controlled transmission. Is there a detent cable with this transmission? If so,is it adjustable? (don't fret I won't try). If no cable adjust, can the shift points be re-set? I have a shop I trust to do these things, I just want a bit of information before I go and talk.

I think (but please dont shoot me for being not entirely sure) , that you can access the transmissoin computer trough the On board computer. So that would require an OBD2 cable and correct software.
From there you can adjust the RPM in which you would want your car to shift through its gears.

There is no detent cable. The only way to change the shift points is to get some kind of after market programmer/chip
