Do I need a PDIP or SOIC OBD reader???
I'm looking to purchase and OBDII reader to use to connect to my laptop so I can diagnose and check codes myself from Elm Electronics and I'm unsure if I need the PDIP or the SOIC adapter one for my car. I have a 2007 Chevy Malibu LT 2.2L. Will either of them work? And I've also noticed that there are clones made in Japan that are extremely faulty, so I want to avoid that. Elm Electronics is the official maker. I just simply want to connect my car to my laptop's OBDII software so I can diagnose my car myself. Do you all know of something better? Like a OBDII reader that connects to my laptop via USB to use an OBDII downloaded software but not too expensive? Somewhere in the $20-$40 range. I appreciate any and all help with this!
