Do they make a flywheel for this swap ?

This is my first post, not gonna lie not really a chevy guy, But here lately i will pull for one in racing, anything but toyota. Anyway i'm putting a 88 350 that came out of a truck, in a 85 chevy carprice, We want to keep the turbo 350 transmission thats in the carprice, Found that the 85 flywheel won't bolt up on the 88 motor,Is there one for this swap help i"m at a standstill, The 88 had a 700r tranny,I've done converted it to carb

Hey badwrench,
Welcome to the forums.

Try Chuckstrucks.

By flywheel I'm given to assume you mean flex-plate and torque converter? You may have to use the flex plate, torque converter, and transmission from the truck. Sounds as though the overall sizing of the two trannies are different.

The truck is probably sized more toward a car's THM400 tranny, which would explain the bolt pattern not matching up.But the fun's just beginning. Are the trannies exactly the same length? If so, you can probably re-use the drive shaft. If not, it would probably be easier just to get an engine with the right bolt patterns on the crankshaft and block.

The trans. that was in the truck is a 700r4, don't want to use it because the driveshaft and trans mounts are differnt. I've seen the late model chevy motors in old streetrods with turbo 400 trans how did they do it ?

Wow i really don't know now. Got to look the trans. in the car is not a turbo 350 it's an overdrive of some type,It only has 3 bolts for the converter mounting,Could this be the 200r trans.? how can i find out

It could be a powerglide transmission. Not in the THM family. The real question here is, even if you could get the flex-plate and torque-converter to fit, would the transmission bell-housing bolt up to the block? Is the splined shaft the right size,# of splines, and length? If the bell housing won't fit, or the splined shaft is wrong, you're wasting your time anyway.

One way or another it looks like a trip to a major junkyard for you. If not for parts, at least for information on what will interchange to your vehicle properly.

hey 85 is a 2 piece rear main seal the 88 is 1 piece you need the right flywheel in 87 chevy went to the center bolt valve motor and a 1 piece main seal the trans will fit with the right flywheel and converter

1986 and up, chevys with one piece rear main seal used externally balanced flexplate. The following part #'s will fit your '88 block: 14088765 12.75"
14088761 14"

Thanks for the repleys, wasteing my time ? I got it installed and running, Found out that a 86 vette up flexplate works 153 teeth with weight,
