Gasoline into a diesel engine

Hi, Had about 12 gallons of diesel in the tank and wife wanted a coffee, stopped and thought I'd put some diesel in but put 4 gallons of gas by mistake. It is a 96 suburban with a 6.5 turbo diesel and a 42 gallon fuel tank. I never started it and had the truck towed back home. Any suggestions, can I just fill it with diesel and it will dilute it enough, drain out the 16 gallons that are in there, ?? Thanks in advance

RE: Gasoline into a diesel engine

A small percentage of gasoline can be useful in the winter time if your diesel fuel is starting to jell. I would have driven it to a diesel pump and filled the tank and not think a thing of it. I have driven a diesel with close to the same amount of gasoline in it and never noticed a differance.

RE: Gasoline into a diesel engine

I've seen diesel put in a gasoline engine, and it ran OK, it was put in 'cause the tractor ran out of gas, and it needed to get into a shed.

Take care and God bless,
