The only real way to check the PCV system to know for sure if it is working is to pull the fresh air intake hose off the air cleaner start the truck, put a piece of paper on the end of the fresh air hoses if it gets sucked on and stays the system works properly. This is the hose on the opposite side of the engine from the valve.

Ok if it does not stay it needs a new pcv valve?

You might check the rear of the intake manifold and the oil psi switch after you cleaned the engine.Along with the disturber base gasket as these can look as though you have a valve cover leaking or other leaks.

Ill check the oil psi but the distributor base gasket is brand new. Thamsk for the suggestions they really help.

If it does not stick then you need to pull the PCV valve out and see if the paper stick to it. If not you need a valve. If it does stick to the valve then the passages in one or both of the valve covers is blocked.

I can put paper on the end of the pcv valve and it sticks to it. Its good then?

Try the FRONT main crankcase seal.

Don't waste your time if the Dealer says they don't have. Any gasket that is oil safe will do. Make your own gasket but get the right permatex product - read the specs carefully.

an alternative is a a threaded ALUMINUM screw that fits well and a copper gasket - though that may seep idk. don't over-tighten it obviously - you'd strip it out - it's aluminum not steel.
