Secondary Battery Relay Charging System
Hi everyone. I need some advice on how to setup a charging system for a secondary battery in my '04 Trailblazer. I fly R/C planes that use Lithium polymer batteries, and we use deep cycle marine batteries (using the cars battery is not a good idea as they arent designed for the continual discharge to charge our lipos), plus a specific charger to charge these Lipo batteries. Some are 2s (7.2v) some are up to 6s (22.3v) and may take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the batteries.
Anyway, I have my deep cycle battery mounted in a wheeled tote which works great for getting it to the car to go flying, but at 50 or so pounds my old back takes a hit now and then getting it up and into the back of my Blazer. I asked on our RC forum, and one guy replied that I should set up some kind of relayed system that will charge the deep cycle battery while Im doing my everyday driving as well as taking care of my cars starter battery. Is there such a device out there? The deep cycle battery is in the back of the Blazer so getting a 10ga+/- wire back to it from under the hood (I assume) might require some work or something.
