Valve Lashing
I am going to be lashing my valves this weekend however i do not want to go through the hassle of pulling off the timing cover. Is there any other way to tell where #1, and #6 TDC are so I can properly lash the valves?
I have heard if you turn motor until the LARGE puff of air comes, but that wont be 100% accurate meaning my valves will be lashed wrong. Thanks. |
If you know which cylinder is #1, pull the plug and turn the crankshaft until you feel air coming out. That means #1 cylinder is coming up to TDC compression. From there watch the timing mark on the vibration damper. When the mark lines with what ever is 0 on the scale you hit #1 TDC. The marks will line up on #6 also but you won't feel any air coming out the plug hole so you are 180 degrees off.
