Engine power reduced
 

Hello everyone

My husband, two kids and myself are currently stuck at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We have been having battery trouble for the longest and whenever the battery dies, we get a jump. However this time things were different. We got a jump and all of a audden our car started sounding funny and the rpms kept jumping from 1000 to 2000. We got an alert on our dash that read "Reduced Engine Power" which we have NVEVER seen before and also the check engine light is on. We live an hour and some away in Ontario, CA. And we're a little nervous to drive it back.
We have had this car since Julyl 2013, and we financed it at around 60000 miles.
In all honesty, I have no clue to what to do first.
We are waiting on AAA right now.
