2002 chevy impala 3.8 no fuel pressure
New fuel filter New fuel line New fuel pressure regulator New fuel pump But still no fuel pressure fuel gets to the fuel pressure regulator and car wont turn over any thoughts? It wont read anything on the gauge at the fuel rail and the part needed replaced due to being old and in need of being replaced. What else could it be other than a fuel pressure problem ? Yes fuel pump works and has power. When fuel pressure regulator is out it will shoot gas on to windshield. I did try a different fuel rail thinking that was the issue but that didn't work. |
crickets...ok, I'll take a stab at it...
I assume you have gas in the tank. If all your new parts are good and installed properly, than it just wouldn't make a lot of sense. Have you measured the pressure at the fuel rail? Are you just assuming it is a fuel problem because it won't start? What made you replace all those parts? |

turn the key to run...the fuel pump should run for 2 seconds to prime the system. do you hear the fuel pump relay click on at key to run? Check for power and grd at the fuel pump connector.
|
Yup fuel pump works and has power

car doesn't start or doesn't turn over? completely different issues
If your certain the pump is pumping fuel to the rail but not getting pressure on a gauge then either your gauge doesn't work or theres a restriction in the rail/service port/gauge. I'm assuming you're just hooking up at the Schrader valve? Do you have the fittings to hook your gauge inline or "T" into it? |
Yes hooking gauge at Schrader valve yes have those fittings. I did try a different fuel rail thinking that was the issue but that didn't work.
|
Does your gauge or fitting have a part in the center to depress the center pin of the schrader valve on the manifold when screwed in? I have seen a couple of them where the part that does that function has fallen out and won't depress the schrader to allow your gauge to display the pressure?
|
Yes it has that part
|
If you were to disconnect the input to the fuel filter and run the hard line to a container via a rubber hose, simply turning the key on should pump gas into the container. If no gas and the fuel pump is runs for 2 sec with the key on, then something is wrong with the pump, pickup or you have no gas in the tank. Need to be extra careful for fire hazards.
