Determine if there is enough fuel in the vehicle for the engine to start. Add fuel if it is low and try to start the car again. A low or empty fuel tank in a Chevy Impala can cause engine problems and prevent the engine from starting or running continuously. Since you have no problem with the battery, check the fluids. Locate the lever that releases the hood and pull it. Walk to the front of the car and open the hood. Locate and check the transmission, oil and coolant levels. If they are not filled to the minimum fill line add the appropriate fluids and attempt to start the engine again. Without adequate amounts of these fluids, the Impala engine may be damaged or have difficulty starting.

Fuel is definitely not the issue. The car does start and runs almost every time. It's just occasionally when the car has been running, I turn it off and can't restart?
Is it common for the ignition switch to go on these?

I had a 69 Camaro that did that. It turned out to be a bad spot on the armature of the starter. Whenever that spot stopped in a certain spot it would not start. I used to put a screwdriver across the starter terminals and it would start. I eventually bought a new starter and that solved the problem.

Yeah i'm pretty sure It Is the starter chevy has a problem with them getting hot and they stop working I suggest getting a new starter rebuilds sucks and try to see If you can put a heat shield blocking the exhaust, If you don't have the cash there Is a trick you can do by putting a stronger spring In the solenoid, Or you can get the Mini chevy starter the soloinoid Is further from exuaust so It does not get as hot, I know This because I had a 78 trans am with a 455 HD Motor In it and I bought an accel starter and problem solved!

Thanks guys. I do remember tho the guy I bought it off 6 mths ago, did tell me he changed the starter.
The other thing is the starter is not making any noises at all when turning the key to start.
Which also makes me think it might be the ignition switch??

Try the starter solenoid first, next take a clothes pin or another heat sync on the gas line .It may be vapor locked.chevy also makes a heat shield for the starter..chevk solenoid, check starter, make shure all connections from battery to starter are correct.check all solenoid connections good luck,Jim
