Dimmer switch

Can the dimmer switch on a 03 impala be changed without removing the steering wheel?

HotSauce6226 Apr 3, 2010 6:39 PM

Well yes. What would the steering wheel have to do with the dimmer control? Just take apart the dash and there you are.

Why would I need to take the dash apart? The dimmer is in the column and is actuated by the turn signal lever.

what dimmer switch are you referring to. there should be a knob to the left of the steering wheel that also controls the headlights. my mom has an 02 impala and thats how it is in her car. it also controls the brightness of the lights in the cluster. door controls. radio controls. etc.

The dimmer switch Im talking about swithces the head lights from low to high beam

Thats a multifuntion switch. Not a dimmer control.

HotSauce can the multifnction switch be changed without removing the steering wheel? It appears that if I remove the covers off of the steering column I can get access to the switch.

Yes you should be able to do that

Reading your answers is comical....do you people ever give any real helpful information?

Like how to change the multifunction switch?

Gwampa Jan 11, 2011 1:14 PM

I thought it was very helpful. Hell, the multifunction switch is a snap....even for an old fart like me! Right Sauce?
