hi Lisa,
removing the battery cable simply clears all the error codes in the engine control module. the problem doesn’t go away. You’re just cleaning the slate so it can try to “find” the phantom error all over again. Sort of like Groundhog Day.. Which error codes were you getting? if you can address those errors, the absurd warning on the dash may really go away. good luck, bill Thank you for this information. I had the truck checked for codes. There were none at this time, but I may have a pending one. As soon as I have the next problem I`ll post the code. Thank you again |

Engine hot ac off.
Found new cause for engine hot ac off.
Check the plug on the thermostat sensor, i had this warning when it rained out here in the desert. Found the thermostat sensor was turned so the wires went straight up from the plug. Water from the rain would hit the two wires and run down into the plug and short the connection. First i sealed the area where wires entered the plug and then with a socket i gave the thermostat sensor a half turn so the wires entered the plug from the bottem. Cost ten cents and the first thing to check. Check it first before putting money into buying parts if the engine is not over heated? A spray of WD40 may displace the water and fix the problem for a short time. |
You just described my 09 impala to the tee

I have a 2008 Impala with 80,000 miles. I get the engine hot a/c off error every now and then but only when it's cold outside. I can't seem to find any thing in common when it occurs. A few times it happened when it was below freezing and I just started the car in the morning. I use a code scanner and clear the codes and it goes away some times for weeks and sometimes for a few days. A couple of time it happened when I was driving but then it usually cleared it self in a few miles. Other times it didn't clear but I had to clear the code manually. One problem was the remote starter wouldn't work if the code was not cleared.
I like my Impala but a lot of annoying problems is making me not want to buy another Chevy. Door locks not working in warm weather but the cost to fix them is about $1600. Rear defogger not working - Burnt out wire (not fused) by passenger Fuse box. Replaced wit h30 Amp fused connector. Service Traction control / ABS error codes. Had the wheel hub replaced but the problem was the ABS connector. Fuel tank purge valve error. Topped of gas tank too much. The annoying thing is all of these problem are not uncommon with many Impala / Chevy vehicles. The purge valve circuit code is the second most annoying of the little glitches. Fueling my car is a blast when the pump stops every couple min. I replaced 2 of the three actuators for the heater because the clicking was making me insane, my headlights and signal lights work then they don't, then they do then they don't. Rear defrost does not work although the relay is fine and the indicator on the dial lights up when you activate the button. I'm seriously thinking this car needs a new computer and fresh harnesses from front to back. I am out of patience and out of fair enough weather to do the repairs I'm so over it with this car. |
